CLASS STRUCTURES
The Board of Trustees at Waiwera South School are committed to maintaining small class sizes, recognising the positive impact on student learning and engagement. To achieve this goal, the Board funds a teacher, and a teacher aid, ensuring that the educational environment remains supportive and conducive to individual student learning and development needs.
In the morning we have three classes: Junior Room - Mrs Cleghorn has Year 1 - 3 Middle Room - Miss Chapman has Year 4 - 6 Senior Room - Mrs Bissett has Year 7 & 8 In the afternoon we combine into two classes: Junior Room - Mrs Cleghorn has Year 1 - 3 Seniors and Middles combine (SMiddles) - Miss Chapman Year 4 - 8 . |

As part of enrolment all students are require to supply a copy of a birth certificate and an immunisation certificate. On enrolment each child and their parent/caregiver are required to complete a Cybersafety Use Agreement, to comply with the school’s policy on computer and internet use.

Our school uniform is a means of providing a sense of identity and maintaining a high standard of personal presentation.
The Waiwera South School uniform is compulsory for all students. All items must be clearly labelled with the child's name and worn as outlined below. School uniform items such as polo tops, fleeces and hats are available for purchase from the school office. We also have second hand items available. Uniform is as follows: Plain Navy Cargo shorts – available from The Warehouse (School Tex Utility Pocket Shorts Navy) Tartan Culottes – Waiwera South Tartan culottes are available from The Warehouse Navy track pants (no logos) Long or short sleeve monogrammed royal blue polo shirt – ordered through the school office Monogrammed navy polar fleece sweatshirt - ordered through the school office Monogrammed navy hoodie (optional) - ordered through the school office A monogrammed school hat - available for sale at the school office Black shoes/sandals or gym shoes Black/navy tights or white/black or navy socks All students must wear a sunhat in terms 1 and 4. |
School times are:
9.00am-10.40am: In class 10.40am-11am: Morning tea 11.00am-12.30pm: In class 12.30pm-1.30pm: Lunch 1.30pm-3pm: In class Assemblies are held on Fridays from 2:30pm-3:00pm. There are approx. three per term and dates will be included in the newsletter and on the calendar. Year 7+8 Technology is on Thursdays. The bus picks up the students at 9:00am to be taken to the Technology Centre at South Otago High School and they are returned to school at about 2:45pm. Our students attend Technology with Clinton School pupils. |
