OUR PEOPLE
GOVERNANCE
What we stand for at Waiwera South School - Our Curriculum
We are future focused - we plan today to instil the values and skills that the children will require tomorrow.
Our curriculum and teaching is meaningful and planned around our  children, it is responsive and moves and adapts according to current needs.
We focus on strengths, needs and interests.
We use past teaching and assessment, looking bac
k to move forward.
We understand that learning is ubiquitous, happening anywhere and anytime, we encourage our learners to be open to learning in all situations.
Our learners are diverse, we plan for, and encourage diversity. Our learning and planning is learner centred.
We as a staff work collaboratively and we encourage and teach the skills of collaboration to our learners.
We are open learners, we adapt to change and work within a digital world, teaching our learners the skills of learning how to learn, unlearn and relearn when and as required in our ever changing world.
Our learners learn  the skills of s
elf regulation and student agency - they have input into their learning and goals and understand their next learning steps.

ENVIROSCHOOL
Waiwera South School is an Enviroschool. Enviroschools is an environmental action based programme where young people are empowered to design and lead sustainability projects in their schools, neighbourhoods and country.
We encourage our students to be active learners and approach our learning with a holistic view of the environment, within our school we have ongoing initiatives that support our local community and environment. Our students are growing their personal skills by working collaboratively to plan, design and create a sustainable school.
